Cruise update(YEAH), Pete Mayer
Palmer Lake, Pueblo, Canon City

Last week I got an email from a woman named Tina Cline who happens to be a retired librarian and who now runs a business called "Novel Vacations"out of Dallas, TX. She said she is hosting a cruise during the summer of 2010 entitled "Librarians on the Loose". OK, I know what you're thinking and YES, they've invited me to come and perform for them on the cruise. So what the heck, right? I mean does life get any better than that or what? So why am I telling you this? You don't HAVE to be a librarian to go on the trip. Just email Tina and inquire about the details from her and voila, you can join us on a cruise ship. She sounds like an absolute stitch and she can be contacted at tina@novelvacations.com All aboard. (Hey, I just figured out how to make colors with my computer!) Can you imagine the magic? There you are on the main deck, tucked into some sunny corner with drinks flowing your way, singing tunes from Harry Chapin, Peter Mayer, Jim Croce, CSN, Joni Mitchell, me and even James Buffet. We'll just go round and round and round the circle, and then do it all again the next day. . . and the day after that. . .

Friday, Feb. 27th The Speedtrap 84 Hwy. 104 Palmer Lake, CO 8pm Lovely place in about 4 miles west of Monument, CO. Very intimate. I will play any song request made. . .

Sat. March 14th, Peter Mayer (Joe U. opens) 7:30pm showtime High Plains UUC 1825 Dominion Way. Tix $17(door) and $14 for any prepay sales. Mail a check to me at Joe Uveges 222 LaClede Ave. C.S. CO 80905 (227-8648 for questions) What can I say about Pete Mayer that I've not said before? He is my all time favorite songwriter. Bring a couple friends and experience the magic. After 5 years of hosting him at St. Francis, we've opted for the Unitarian Church at High Plains because it has a wonderful area in the back where we can share refreshments. Seating will be more limited, but much closer to the artist. This show should sell out so get your checks in early. . .

Sat. March 21st. Pueblo, CO Andy McCarthy's Sports Grill Corner of Jerry Murphy Rd. and University Blvd. Joe Uveges with KJ Braithwaite. Bar gig . . . big hair night (right). I've not played Pueblo since the day I wrote "On the Road to Union" so many years ago.

Sat. April 11th Canon City,CO The Canon Rose at the Skyline Theatre 606 Main St. Canon City, CO I'll be headlining the show after a wonderful gig with Charlie Hall at the Canon Rose last year. Not sure who I'll bring, but I'm thinking something really different. Cello maybe?

Wed. April 15th PILLAR joins Joe Uveges for an afternoon sing along. Not sure of where this will be held yet, but bring your song ideas and your voice for a 1:30 - 3PM afternoon of whatever moves us. . . guaranteed fun for all in attendance. Contact Bonnie Riley for details at director@visitpillar.org

Sat. May 2nd BENEFIT CONCERT for the MISSION MEDICAL CLINIC 7pm $12 advance $15 at the door. Spiritual Concert for all you "Receive Who You Are" fans.

Broadmoor Community Church 315 Lake Avenue, Co. Springs. Call or email Mary Jane at mjray9999@yahoo.com 719-599-7976 for advance tickets. This event is a fundraiser benefitting the Mission Medical Clinic. The Clinic provides medical, dental, psychological, and pharmacy services to low income local residents without health insurance. I'm really excited about the work this group is doing over off LaSalle and Union Blvd. This is the place Andrew and I volunteered at on MLK Day. Please come and support the show, or simply send a check made out to Mission Medical Clinic to Joe Uveges at 222 LaClede Ave. C.S. CO. 80905

Sat. May 9th Stephanie Pauline, Joe Uveges and KJ Braithwaite for a night of original Christian oriented material. Manitou Church 103 Pawnee Ave. in Manitou. Tickets $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Stephanie and I became acquainted a few years ago when she was working on writing songs for an album she was hoping would get national airplay on Christian radio stations. She has gotten airplay, not only nationally, but internationally. She's a wonderful songwriter with a lovely voice. Check her out at www.StephaniePauline.org KJ will join both of us doing some side work and adding some songs of his own.

Fri. May 15th STACEY EARLE AND MARK STEWART in Concert at the High Plains UUChurch 1825 Dominion Way, C.S. CO 7:30pm with special guest Lindsay Wiedmann opening. Tickets $14 prepay, $16 at the door. Mail checks to Joe Uveges made out to Joe Uveges. Stacey is Steve Earle's sister and is a true Texas songbird. She and her ridiculously smooth guitarist/partner Mark have been through C.S. a few times. I've always enjoyed their country/folk rock sound and lovely blended harmonies. Lindsay Wiedmann, meanwhile, is turning some heads since her new CD came out last year. I think she sounds like a cross between Joni Mitchell and Alison Krauss. This should be a magical night.

Sunday May 24th MEMORIAL DAY FESTIVAL AT LA FORET 6145 Shoup Rd. in Black Forest, CO. The RUB will special guest John Wise will be opening the festivities on Sunday for a full day of music. The event actually kicks of on Sat. the 23rd. Contact Amy Whitesell for furthur information at www.AMusicCompanyInc.com This is the first time this event will be held a LaForet Conference Center. It is a fantastic location and there are supposed to be a bunch of wonderful acts including Jimmie Ibbotson of Pure Prairie League, Sons and Brothers and numerous others. Rissman, Uveges and Braithwaite are honored to be part of the lineup.

Sat. June 6th 7:30pm High Plains UU Church Joe Uveges for a split evening. First set of original material. Second Set, all sing along stuff. Email me your ideas and we'll just have some fun. 1825 Dominion Co. Springs, CO 7:30pm Start time. Tickets available from Ann Harris $12 prepay, $15 at the door. Contact aharris0407@comcast.net for information. Refreshments will be served for a modest fee. . .

Lastly, I just recorded my piece on Volunteering for MLK Day at KRCC yesterday, to air sometime this week. Visit www.krcc.org for more info. . . .
